Stressless recliners are interesting to work on, the engineering involved in the design is fascinating. Commendable work by the prototypers, as there were some challenges during this rebuild to establish the correct construction order, so that everything comes together perfectly.
This fabric is Romo’s Emett Saltwater, part of the Orly range, and it’s a dream to work with. It’s mostly natural fibres with a perfect weight for this type of chair. The herringbone weave has a beautiful soft structure to it.
Recliners like this have become an incredibly familiar piece of furniture. The one thing that stands out after years of use is that they can look tired, which is an incredibly easy fix. The main foam is injection moulded over a metal skeleton and is usually robust, however the top pads tend to be the problem. They can be replaced which is the key to making them look and feel new again.
